Red garbage bin
Household’s red 240L garbage bins are collected weekly and taken to Summerhill Waste Facility in Newcastle.
No additional bin sizes are available.
The maximum weight limit is 70kg.
To ensure collections bins must be placed out the night before collection as bins can be collected as early as 6am due to operational reasons.

- ✅ Heat-proof dishes e.g. Pyrex
- ✅ Crockery and ceramics
- ✅ Disposable nappies
- ✅ Drinking glasses
- ✅ Broken mirrors and broken window glass
- ✅ Food scraps
- ✅ Garden waste
- ✅ Soft plastics, plastic bags, plastic wrap and bubble wrap
- ✅ Light bulbs
- ✅ Foam
- ✅ Clothing and textiles
- ✅ Polystyrene
❌ Unacceptable items:
- ❌ Building materials
- ❌ Rocks and soil
- ❌ Car batteries household batteries
- ❌ Gas bottles
- ❌ Hazardous waste or chemicals
- ❌ Oil, used engine oil
- ❌ Paint
- ❌ Recyclable items

Additional garbage information:
- An additional garbage bin can be purchased for a fee. Contact us for more information.
- Some items like batteries, electronic devices, paints and chemicals cannot be placed in your red garbage bin. The NSW EPA Community Recycling Centre is an alternative recycling program that accepts selected items for recycling that are not accepted in your yellow recycling bin.
