To learn more about the terms and conditions, locations, and times for each drop-off day, click on the events below. You can also download the waste app to stay informed about your waste services and receive updates on any changes or events in your area.
Port Stephens Council organises monthly green waste drop-off days at various locations. The types of green waste accepted include:
- Pruning from shrubs or trees
- Lawn/grass clippings
- Cut flowers
- Weeds (excluding priority weeds)
- Sticks, twigs and leaves no longer than 1.5 meters long
- Logs, stumps and branches (no large stumps or logs)
Drop-off times are from 9 am to 2 pm on most Sundays throughout the year. However, some dates are excluded, and there will not be an extra drop-off day when a month has five Sundays. Additionally, drop-off days do not operate on public holidays.

Tomaree Peninsula | Salamander Bay Waste Transfer Station | April to September: fourth Sunday of each month October to March: second and fourth Sunday of each month |
* When there are 5 Sundays in a month, there will not be an extra drop off day. Please be aware drop off days will not run on public holidays
Conditions of service:
- For residents and ratepayers of Port Stephens only
- Commercial operators are unable to use the services for their business waste
- Only quantities of less than 1 cubic metre will be accepted
- Materials less than 1.5m in length only will be accepted
- Residents must unload their own material into a skip of truck provider and must comply with all instructions from the site operator
- Large loads will not be accepted at the Karuah drop off site as it is not set up for this
- Council has the right to accept/decline excess quantities
If you have waste that is not easily disposed of, we offer free drop off days for problem waste for our residents.

^ Give a Sheet accepts bed linen only – no clothing or other textiles will be accepted.

- Salamander Bay Waste Transfer Station and Community Recycling Centre, 4 Tarrant Road, Salamander Bay
- Council Admin Building car park, 116 Adelaide Street, Raymond Terrace (entry only via Adelaide street)
Condition of service
- For residents and ratepayers of Port Stephens only
- Commercial operators are unable to use the services for their business waste
- Mixed loads will incur a fee. Ensure waste is separated for free disposal.
- Residents must comply with all instructions from the site operator
- Council has the right to decline/accept items or excess quantities
- 4 mattresses and/or 4 tyres per vehicle including tyres on rims
- Only car and 4WD tyres accepted and tyres must be clean free of soil or other contaminates
- X-rays are now accepted at e-waste drop off days
- X-rays are no longer accepted at Council Administration Building at Raymond Terrace
- For Chemical Cleanout drop off events household quantities accepted up to a maximum of 20 litres or 20 kilograms of a single item for more detailed list please check EPA's website

Salamander Bay Waste Transfer Station accepts the following household quantities of problem waste, for free, all year round:
- Gas bottles
- Household chemicals
- Paint
- Motor and other oils
- Household batteries
- Fluoro tubes and globes
- Car batteries
- Fire extinguishers
- E-waste
Permanent e-Waste disposal at Veolia Raymond Terrace Resource Recovery Park
Full designated electronic waste only loads can be dropped off for no charge at Veolia Raymond Terrace Resource Recovery Park at Newline Road, mixed loads (e-waste within a load of other waste) will still incur a fee.
