Calling all creatives! Opportunities for artists abound in Port Stephens
Artists, photographers and creatives of all types are encouraged to apply for a range of opportunities to showcase their work and make Port Stephens an even more vibrant place to live.
There are currently 4 opportunities for creatives to apply for, with a particular focus on Raymond Terrace.
Port Stephens Mayor Ryan Palmer says it’s just one way we’re restarting Port Stephens.
“We know our community has been through a tough time with COVID-19, particularly creatives and businesses.
“One of the simplest things we can do to help restart Port Stephens and safely bring people back to our town centres is activating spaces with amazing works of art.
“Not only does this support local creatives and businesses, it also gives our community a much-needed boost and a reason to get out and enjoy our beautiful surroundings.
“There are opportunities for creatives from all walks of life — whether you’re from Port Stephens, work here, connect with our community or just love this part of the world.
“If you’ve ever dreamt of exhibiting your work or creating an amazing public artwork for all to enjoy, this is your opportunity,” he said.
Artist opportunities
Terrace Reflections
We are seeking artist proposals to create temporary artworks for exhibitions on large scale panels on the external side wall of the building on the corner of William and Sturgeon Street, Raymond Terrace.
Multiple artists will be selected to exhibit 3 exhibitions annually.
This is a unique opportunity for artists to exhibit beyond the walls of a gallery in Raymond Terrace. The project displays artwork in an outdoor environment for the whole community to enjoy.
Raymond Terrace Art Space
This is a free opportunity to hold a month-long exhibition at Raymond Terrace Art Space, located inside Raymond Terrace Library.
We feature a range of works from professional and emerging artists including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, design, decorative and more.
If you’ve ever dreamt of exhibiting or selling your work, this is your chance.
Aboriginal Art
We are seeking Aboriginal artists from Port Stephens to submit a concept for two-dimensional artworks that reflect the local people, communities and/or landscape for use in Council’s marketing materials, website and other documents.
Raymond Terrace custom shade shelters
We are making improvements to the main street of Raymond Terrace to encourage activity and comfortable spaces to relax and socialise. This is an opportunity to design unique shade shelters to be part of our public spaces.
