Sports Councils
There are 4 sports councils in Port Stephens. These sports councils:
- assist with strategic planning;
- provide education and training to members;
- provide a mechanism for community consultation/advice;
- promote sport and recreation;
- organisation of Sports Development Levy setting and facility bookings;
- facility development planning; and
- prioritisation and funding of improvements.
The four local sports councils are made up of representatives from local sporting clubs, schools, special interest groups, elected Councillors and community representatives in the Tomaree, Medowie, West Ward and Tilligerry localities.
Any sport or recreation group that is active can have representation on their local sports council. There are currently over 70 different sporting clubs involved.
Please fill out the booking form to further information on booking sports facilities. All Sport Facility Use Agreements for casual use of grounds must be received by Council at least 2 weeks prior to the intended date of use.
Medowie Sports Council membership consists of a range of sporting clubs from the Medowie area including AFL, rugby union, soccer, athletics, cricket, touch football and tennis.
Meetings
The Medowie Sports Council meets four times a year in February, May, August & November to discuss sport development strategies, membership, use of facilities and fees and charges.

Tilligerry Sports Council membership consists of sporting clubs operating from the Tilligerry area and includes tennis, rugby league, soccer, athletics and sailing.

The Tilligerry Sports Council meets 3 times a year in February, June & October to discuss sport development strategies, membership, use of facilities and fees and charges.

There are over 30 clubs in the Tomaree Sports Council who use Council sport facilities in the Tomaree Peninsula
Sport clubs represented are very diverse with community involvement from all age groups. Sports include all codes of football, croquet, hockey, tennis, swimming, netball, sailing, baseball, cricket, bocce, fishing, equestrian, boxing and school groups.

West Ward Sports Council membership consists of sporting clubs from Raymond Terrace and Rural West areas of Port Stephens.
